Federal Councillor Ueli Maurer receives high-ranking Chinese visitors
Bern, 06.12.2017 - Li Shulei, Deputy Secretary of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, was in Bern for talks on 6 December 2017. Various financial issues were addressed in an exchange with Finance Minister Ueli Maurer. In addition, the next meeting between Switzerland and China, within the scope of the regular financial dialogue will take place in Beijing on 8 December 2017.
Switzerland and China maintain close economic ties which have gradually been expanded in recent years, in particular in the financial sector. Against this backdrop, Li Shulei, Deputy Secretary of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the Communist Party of China, visited Federal Councillor Ueli Maurer. Strategies to open up the financial markets and combating corruption were discussed.
The meeting is part of a series of contacts with Chinese players in the financial sector. These contacts include the financial dialogue initiated in 2013 which will take place in Beijing this coming Friday for the fifth time. The focus of the discussions between the high-ranking representatives of the financial market authorities and the central banks of the two countries will be the recently announced liberalisation steps of the Chinese financial market, the internationalisation of the renminbi currency and the exchange of experience in the fintech area.
