New double taxation agreement with Singapore has entered into force

Bern, 03.08.2012 - The new double taxation agreement (DTA) between Switzerland and Singapore has entered into force. It contains an administrative assistance clause in accordance with the internationally applicable standard. The new DTA will contribute to the further positive development of bilateral economic relations.

Along with an administrative assistance clause in accordance with the internationally applicable standard, Switzerland and Singapore have agreed on a series of improvements regarding withholding tax on dividend payments. 

The new agreement with Singapore entered into force on 1 August 2012 following the exchange of diplomatic notes. It replaces the former agreement dating from 1975.

The provisions of the new agreement will in principle apply from 1 January 2013.
