Bern, 07.12.2010 - The protocol to amend the double taxation agreement (DTA) between Switzerland and Austria will enter into force on 1 March 2011. Aside from a provision on the exchange of information in accordance with the OECD standard, the inclusion of an arbitration clause was also agreed with Austria.

As a result of this exchange, the Protocol of Amendment will enter into force on 1 March 2011. The provisions of the agreement will apply to assessment years beginning on or after 1 January 2012.

The protocol to amend the DTA with respect to taxes on income and capital was signed in Vienna on 3 September 2009, and was approved by parliament on 18 June 2010. The referendum deadline expired unused on 7 October 2010.
