Working visit of Singapore's Permanent Secretary for Finance, Peter Ong, to Switzerland

Bern, 17.10.2014 - Today, State Secretary Jacques de Watteville received the Permanent Secretary for Finance of Singapore, Peter Ong, in Bern. Federal Councillor Eveline Widmer-Schlumpf also received him for a courtesy visit.

The talks between State Secretary Jacques de Watteville and his Singaporean counterpart concerned the latest international developments in tax matters. In particular, the two men discussed the new automatic exchange of information standard and the OECD's BEPS project regarding corporate taxation. The two state secretaries also exchanged opinions on the national reforms under way in the two countries in the area of corporate taxation.

Mr Ong also met with Federal Councillor Eveline Widmer-Schlumpf, with whom he discussed the challenges facing major financial centres such as Switzerland and Singapore. The Head of the Federal Department of Finance (FDF) accepted the Singaporean authorities' invitation to visit Singapore next year to continue the dialogue.
