A strong financial centre is key for the Swiss economy and Switzerland's standing as an international location. Switzerland should therefore maintain its place among world-leading, modern and globally active financial centres. The Federal Council wants to assist and support this with a sound and dynamic financial market policy.

Sustainable Finance

Sustainability presents a considerable opportunity for the Swiss financial centre. The government primarily acts as facilitator in this context, cultivating an intensive dialogue with the financial industry and supporting the creation of an optimal regulatory framework.




Digitalisation of the financial sector

Paying with mobile phones, trading in virtual currencies, crowdfunding: technological developments are presenting traditional financial institutions with a major challenge; internet groups such as Google and Facebook are noticeably moving into this market.




Company taxation

Switzerland supports international efforts to achieve greater transparency and a level playing field with regard to the taxation of multinationals.

Once a year, the State Secretariat for International Finance publishes up-to-date figures on Switzerland as a location for financial services.




Covid-19 credits

The Federal Council and Parliament have provided companies in Switzerland with liquidity relief in order to help with the economic consequences of the coronavirus.

In its review, the SIF lists the most important events for Switzerland in international financial and tax matters and provides information on the status of current regulatory projects.
