Berne, 16.07.2025 — On 17 and 18 July 2025, State Secretary Daniela Stoffel will represent Switzerland at the meeting of G20 finance ministers and central bank governors in Durban, South Africa. The delegation will also include Martin Schlegel, Chairman of the Governing Board of the Swiss National Bank. The meeting under South Africa's G20 presidency will cover topics such as the global economic and debt situation, the stability and further development of the international financial architecture, and international tax issues.
The finance ministers and central bank governors will exchange views on the current economic situation, the global growth outlook, the persistently high debt burden and the mobilisation of public funds.
In addition, Switzerland will emphasise the importance of international financial stability, open and rules-based markets and a fiscal and monetary policy geared towards stability. Another discussion topic will be the international cooperation efforts on tax matters. State Secretary Daniela Stoffel will also take the opportunity to hold bilateral talks.
This year, following an invitation by South Africa, Switzerland will take part in the G20 Finance Track for the tenth time. The meeting of finance ministers on 17 and 18 July is the third of four such meetings in 2025.
