Swiss Climate Scores on the rise
The Federal Council broke new ground in June 2022 with the launch of the Swiss Climate Scores. Switzerland was the first country in the world to establish a set of transparency criteria for climate-friendly investments. SIF launches Green Fintech Network

The combination of sustainable financial services and digital technology (green fintech) is particularly promising. For this reason, the State Secretariat for International Finance (SIF), together with industry representatives, launched the Green Fintech Network on 3 November 2020.

1 March 2020 marked the tenth anniversary of the creation of the State Secretariat for International Finance SIF. Although SIF's mission remains unchanged, i.e. to strengthen Switzerland's position in financial and tax matters at the international level, the environment in which it operates has undergone profound change.

Update on the Libra project
On 18 June 2019, Facebook announced the creation of a new cryptocurrency, Libra, managed by a Geneva-based association, the Libra Association. Its members include major multinationals and non-governmental organisations. One of the association's central missions is to facilitate financial inclusion around the world. More generally, a project of this kind could accelerate cross-border payment traffic and reduce the costs involved.

Federal Council wants to further improve framework conditions for blockchain/DLT
During its meeting on 7 December 2018, the Federal Council adopted a report on the legal framework for blockchain and distributed ledger technology (DLT) in the financial sector. The report shows that Switzerland's legal framework is well suited to dealing with new technologies, including blockchain. Nevertheless, there is still a need for selective adjustments.
